Addiction is a neuropsychological disorder characterized by a persistent and intense urge to use a drug or engage in a behaviour that produces natural reward, despite substantial harm and other negative consequences. This disorder deeply impacts not only those directly struggling with it but also their loved ones and communities.

It’s a complex battle that involves physical, emotional, and psychological dimensions, often requiring more than just willpower to overcome. This battle can disrupt daily life, strain relationships, and compromise physical health and mental wellbeing, making a supportive and understanding environment crucial for the initial steps of recovery.

At Foothills Centre, we understand the journey to recovery begins with a crucial first step: detoxification. With compassion at the heart of our approach, we’re dedicated to providing a safe, supportive space for detox, offering guidance and hope as individuals navigate their path to healing. Recognizing the importance of this initial phase, we focus on making it as comfortable and effective as possible for those taking their first step towards a life free from addiction.

If you are in crisis, please call the Alberta Health Services (AHS) Addiction & Mental Health 24 Hour Hotline: 1-866-332-2322.
